Private Mobile Camping
Mobile safaris are Tim’s speciality and allow you the opportunity to experience the beauty of Kenya from the luxury of your own private tented camp, with attentive staff, large comfortable tents, excellent cuisine and fine wines. Our private camps together with a select few small and luxurious lodges, all of which are in the best locations, are part and parcel of your “home away from home”. In addition to enjoying the stunning views, transient wildlife and diverse culture, many of these lodges are located on private conservancies, giving you the opportunity to go hiking, horseback riding or on camel walks.
Food on Safari
Food is an integral part of being on safari, be it meals in camp or delicious picnics and brunches eaten "al fresco" under a beautiful tree or on the banks of the river whilst watching the hippos and crocodiles. On our game drives, we always carry plenty of snacks to avoid having to go back to camp merely to quell hunger pangs, when we want to spend more time waiting for a lion to hunt or the wildebeest to cross the river!
Meals are freshly prepared in camp, using organic produce which we source locally. James Ndirangu, our chef who has been with us for over 15 years, is a great character and encourages our guests to visit his kitchen, where people are fascinated by creations of fresh croissants, rosemary focaccia bread and cinnamon rolls.
We are happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, intolerance and allergies. Your preferences are a priority and will be discussed before your safari.
The Maasai tribe in Amboseli have learned how to exist in their extremely dry habitat and harsh environment and this is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating cultures to immerse oneself in. Having our own concession area in Amboseli, we have become increasingly involved with the community here and have built a wonderful relationship with them. You will therefore be able to visit their “manyattas” which are their traditional villages, watch their tribal dancing and get a true insight into their traditional way of life.
